Move + Make in 2019
This New Year I felt a little less pressure to make a set of resolutions. I didn’t feel like I had to write down goals or have all the stars align by the 1st of the year. I just wanted to gently bring in the new year, knowing good things were coming ahead.
2018 - you were a bit rough for me. I just felt a bit rotten and let things stew in my head longer than they needed to. I didn’t move my body enough and just felt sluggish. However, there were some great times and good memories and plenty of learning along the way too. I started selling Happy Day Beads, Eleanor grew into her own (brilliant) person and our new house started to feel more like home to us. So I AM thankful for these things and even more simply, thankful for another year of life.
But needless to say, 2019, I was SO ready for you. My approach to this year is simple. I just want to spend more time moving and making.
Getting outside and moving my body has always brought me joy. It’s made me feel alive and healthy and helped me put things into perspective. I believe there is a grateful spirit that arrises when we walk in nature and that is such a special thing. So more of that please.
Making more is just in my bones. It’s partially because I just love to create new things, but it’s also because I’m learning to work with what I have instead of always defaulting to buy new things. Using what I have, repurposing things and making something that I need is easier on the wallet and fun and it allows me to use my creativity in different ways.
I think, for me, by keeping my expectations low and my heart high, I can ease into this New Year with a much more hopeful and focused mentality. And with that, things can move steadily ahead.
How do you feel about the New Year? Anything you want to accomplish? Trying to find a place to start? Let’s chat, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
